Catholic Matrimony

Why be Married in the Catholic Church?

Getting married in the Catholic Church is a sacred act that invites Christ into the very heart of a couple’s union, making their love a visible sign of God’s covenant with His people. As St. Paul teaches, “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself up for her” (Ephesians 5:25). In the sacrament of Matrimony, husband and wife receive grace to love selflessly, remain faithful, and build a family rooted in Christ. Marrying in the Church unites the couple not only to one another, but to the wider Body of Christ, allowing their relationship to be strengthened by prayer, the sacraments, and the support of the faith community.

If you are interested in getting married at St. Mary's, please call the parish office at 812-683-2372 to set up an appointment.
